Hey! I'm Angela.
Let's get to know each other

Let's also be honest—there are only so many hours in the day and time is precious. Look left for some quick facts or read a short summary below.

Tl;dr: I’m a California transplant in Boston passionate about books, television, movies, articles, and all other forms of good storytelling. I found my place in communications because I want to help people with stories to tell spread their message to their audience, whether it be through marketing, writing, or digital media.

It’s hard to bring life to a person through a few short sentences and a list of job descriptions.  I’d love to tell you a bit about me—who I am, where I’m from, what I love to do—and give you a brief window into my personality.

I was born and raised on the West Coast in one of the most beautiful cities in the world: San Francisco. My dad's family has lived in the city for four generations (making me the fifth!), and my mom was born and raised in Malaysia.

Perhaps the plight of an only child’s constant boredom brought about my love for stories at an early age. It was certainly aided by my overactive imagination that turned empty houses into castles and made figures come to life within the colorful brushstrokes of a mural.

My quest for stories turned me into an unstoppable reader. My mom loves to tell me about how she would always take me to the bookstore as a little girl, and by the time we completed the fifteen-minute drive home, I had already finished the book she had bought. I was entranced by the magic woven between words and how authors built entire worlds within a paragraph.

Discovering the power of storytelling was the catalyst that set me on the path of communications. When it came time to choose a college major, I was lost in the sea of possibilities. Sure, I loved books and movies, but I never thought of myself as the creator of them. I found communications partly because of its proximity to the more-creative departments of film and journalism, but I also thought public relations seemed cool. I didn’t know much about it, but I loved talking to people and getting to know their stories.

I became fascinated by the nuances of communications—it was a much more creative environment than I expected, and I loved the space it created for the side of me that wanted to explore artistic ideas for digital media. There are so many different pathways for PR people, yet they all tend to focus on one goal: building community.

This aspect of community is why I slowly fell in love with communications. Communication in all its forms—written, spoken, signed—drives humanity forward. Words are unspeakably powerful, and their force should be used to lift others.

I want to build connections across communities and spark new and diverse ways of thinking. Wherever my pursuits take me, my goal will always be to find creative ways to help writers, creators, storytellers, and dreamers tell their stories to the world.
